Tariq Farook’s half-century saw Brookefield Multiplex carve out a 97-run victory over HSBC in the 9th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament being played at
The 20-over tournament, organised by
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Brookefield lost opener Nick on the first ball of the day when he was trapped leg before by Damian. Saqib, who walked in at Nick’s fall, steadied the innings along with the other opener Anil putting on 31 runs for the second wicket.
Anil was bowled by Sudhir for 16 and then walked in the hero of the match Tariq Farook, who put Multiplex score on an escalator. He hit a hurricane 84 from 41 balls and belted six towering sixes and also reached the fence twice.
Saqib departed after contributing 27 which included one six and two fours. Tariq saw wickets falling at the other end but protected his fort well only to fall to Sidh in the final over. But by then Brookefield had reached 181. Oswald remained not out on 26 as Brookefield set a target of 185 for HSBC.
Malik claimed two wickets for 33 runs while Damian, Sudhir, Ali, Rauf and Sidh picked up one each for the Bankmen.
HSBC made a mess with their reply losing wickets at regular intervals and never came close to the required run rate. Only one batsman reached double figures with Sidh scoring 16 before he became Nick’s victim. Nick picked up three wickets for 20 runs while Daryl also claimed three whilst conceding 24 runs. Prashant picked up two for eight and Saqib and Oswald one each for four and three runs respectively.
Even with 30 runs coming as extras HSBC were bowled out for a paltry 88 in the second ball of the 18th over.
Tariq was named the man of the match for his match-winning 84.
